No GIS Available -- Contact the Office Directly

Rappahannock County does not have a GIS system for real estate at this time. The county's official website states this directly: "Rappahannock County does not have GIS for real estate. Please call or email for assistance." This means that if you need parcel data, ownership information, or assessment values, you must contact the Commissioner of the Revenue by phone or email.

This is different from most Virginia counties, which offer some form of online parcel viewer or tax search portal. In Rappahannock, the Commissioner's office is the single official source for real estate assessment and ownership data available to the public.

Rappahannock County administers a Land Use Program that allows qualifying agricultural, horticultural, forest, and open space properties to be taxed at use value rather than fair market value. This program is governed by the Code of Virginia and can result in significant tax savings for landowners who qualify.

To apply for the Land Use Program, contact the Commissioner of the Revenue's office. Applications must be submitted before the deadline for the tax year in which the lower rate is sought. The Commissioner can confirm current eligibility criteria, rates, and deadlines for the program.

Property owners in the Land Use Program must revalidate their enrollment periodically. Failure to revalidate can result in removal from the program and rollback taxes. The Commissioner's office tracks enrollment and sends notices when revalidation is required.
